Rick Sevy

Visual Effects Artist/CG Supervisor

Accomplished Craftsman

During my 25 years of visual effects and animation experience I have always sought roles as a 3D generalist mostly because I enjoy the challenge of learning new skills. As a result, I am comfortable in many different roles, whether discussing the creation of a CG pipeline with production technology, working with artists to achieve the artistic vision of the director, or prototyping a CG feather system. Early on in my career, I was handed one of the first motion capture systems and told to "figure it out". My current challenge is to integrate virtual production into the production process of a stop motion film. My strength has always been to troubleshoot and problem solve to quickly get to the heart of an issue and find a solution.

Outside of my main career path in visual effects and in order to not stare at a computer screen 24/7, I enjoy working with my hands. During breaks between film and TV projects, I have successfully completed a four year apprenticeship with a wooden boat builder and restored expensive cars for a well known restoration shop. As a result, I consider myself an accomplished wood worker and metal shaper.
